About Us
The founder of the company, a PhD from Imperial College London, considers himself a technologist with a perfectionist attitude and open mind. His commercial experience with mobile data service started from 2000 after he joined the BAFTA winner, Purple Software. His last job was senior mobile data service architect for the UK’s largest private company.
His work experience in the past dealt with mobile FTP client, WAP browser, connected mobile strategy games, SMS and WAP projects (the WAP sites that designed and developed by him alone has generated a turnover of £1.7 million in 12 months upto the end of June 2007). Every year he attends/visits around 10 key exhibitions/ conferences in the mobile data service sector and related areas, including 3GSM World Congress.
About 2 years ago, he began to wonder why the global business returns from mobile data service always fall far behind the market expectations. He gathered a list of problems from bottom to the top based on his experience. Fortunately, he has found solutions for almost all of them, except those falling into hands of phone manufacturers, network operators, OS, and language vendors. He has also managed to connect his work with that from academic research, patents and publications. In January 2006, he registered the company COM to MOBI Ltd aiming to cover both .com and .mobi.
In August 2006, he fired a patent application based on his work on using Artificial Intelligence to improve user experience etc. He has also written a business plan aiming to create something big in the mobile data service area, something which has WOW factor, something user like to give compliments rather than complaints after use, targeting a niche market of 50millon people worldwide he identified. Through the whole process, he has rediscovered the true meaning of “Content is King and User Experience is Queen!”
The good news is, after nearly 2 years of painstaking work, he has designed probably a world leading, powerful, extensible and general purpose mobile intelligent widget/content browsing platform.
A prototype platform incorporating with typical use cases has been built based on a thorough consideration of mobile's small screen factor and interactive soft and direction keys. Every function, even those simple ones, has been fundamentally redesigned (comparing with conventional approaches) with one purpose in mind: thoroughly maximising usability and capability. The prototype demonstrates the fundamentally solid beginning of a potentially prosperous business.
The platform’s user experience appears to be better than those available on the market, such as applications based on Flash Lite (mobile version of Flash, from Adobe), Widsets, Leiki and lots of other mobile on-device portals and widget platforms.
